MCC Golf Captures Glenlakes Tournament Championship

The Meridian Community College golf team stayed on a
winning streak Tuesday by capturing the 2017 Glenlakes Invitational Tournament
in Foley, AL. The Eagles won the tournament by 11 strokes ahead of Central
Alabama Community College. MCC finished the tournament with a total team score
of 901 to win its second straight tournament after winning the Lou Hart
Invitational Tournament back on March 7. MCC entered the tournament this week
by being ranked sixth in the latest ranking according to golfstat.com and that
also makes MCC the highest ranked junior college golf program in the state of
Mississippi.
Freshman Jacob Berry led the Eagles as a medalist and
finished the tournament with a total three-round score of 217 (1-over par),
while Isaiah Jackson finished tied for second place to land a spot on the
All-Tournament Team. Jackson ended the three-round event with a total score of
224 (8-over par).
Former Lamar star Lance Strickland finished tied for
ninth with a final score of 231 (15-over par) and Malachi Spiers finished in
16th position with a score of 235 (19-over par). Porsche Kitipongpatana rounded
out the field for MCC by finishing tied for 23rd with a score of 240 (24-over
par).
MCC will return to action for its final conference
tournament of the spring season on April 1-2 by participating in the MACJC
Event #6 at Lions Golf Course in Columbus, MS.
