MCC Softball Splits Road Doubleheader

From School Reports

The Meridian Community College softball team returned to action on Friday afternoon by traveling to Pearl River Community College for a doubleheader against the Lady Wildcats. MCC came away with a road split by falling in Game One to PRCC by a final count of 11-3 and bouncing back to take Game Two by a final of 5-1.

MCC is now 15-20 overall after the split and 10-14 in conference play. The Lady Eagles will return to action for its final home games of the 2017 season on Wednesday (April 19) against Coahoma Community College at Tommy McDonald Field beginning at 3 p.m.

The Lady Eagles simply couldn't muster much offense in Game One on Friday and fell to PRCC by a final of 11-3. MCC only managed seven total hits in the Game One loss, while PRCC had 10 hits. Brianna Duquette, Mia Johnson, and Mycahla Howard each had an RBI double in Game One for MCC.

The Lady Eagles did bounce back nicely in Game Two to defeat PRCC by a final of 5-1. Mycahla Howard led MCC at the plate in Game Two with three RBIs on a pair of hits, while Courtney Moore and Keelee Ladnier each had an RBI single in the win.

Tiana Boutte picked up the pitching win for MCC by tossing a complete game and notching one strikeout.
