MCC Softball Splits Road Doubleheader

The
Meridian Community College softball team returned to action on Friday afternoon
by traveling to Pearl River Community College for a doubleheader against the
Lady Wildcats. MCC came away with a road split by falling in Game One to PRCC
by a final count of 11-3 and bouncing back to take Game Two by a final of 5-1.
MCC
is now 15-20 overall after the split and 10-14 in conference play. The Lady
Eagles will return to action for its final home games of the 2017 season on
Wednesday (April 19) against Coahoma Community College at Tommy McDonald Field
beginning at 3 p.m.
The
Lady Eagles simply couldn't muster much offense in Game One on Friday and fell
to PRCC by a final of 11-3. MCC only managed seven total hits in the Game One
loss, while PRCC had 10 hits. Brianna
Duquette, Mia Johnson, and Mycahla Howard each had an RBI double in Game
One for MCC.
The
Lady Eagles did bounce back nicely in Game Two to defeat PRCC by a final of
5-1. Mycahla Howard
led MCC at the plate in Game Two with three RBIs on a pair of hits, while
Courtney Moore and Keelee Ladnier each had an RBI single in the win.
Tiana Boutte picked up the
pitching win for MCC by tossing a complete game and notching one strikeout.
