MCC guard Kristin Sampson was selected as the MACJC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week as voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the MACJC Tuesday afternoon.

Sampson is a native of Jackson, MS and came to Meridian Community College after having a successful high school career at Provine. Sampson has been one of the driving forces behind the success of the women’s basketball team this season at MCC.

Sampson finished the week by scoring 11 points and collecting five steals in a 79-68 win over Southwest Mississippi. MCC is currently competing in the MACJC State Tournament and Sampson scored 24 points in an 85-77 overtime victory over Mississippi Delta in the opening round of the tournament. The Lady Eagles will play Southwest Mississippi in the semi-final round of the tournament Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.
