MCC Baseball Swept By JCJC

The Meridian Community College Eagles closed out a four-game
home stand Sunday afternoon against Jones County Junior College. The Bobcats
were able to leave Scaggs Field with a doubleheader sweep over the Eagles to
push its overall record to a perfect 10-0. The Eagles dropped its overall
record for the 2014 season to 7-5 following the sweep at the hands of the
Bobcats.
MCC will open a five-game road trip Tuesday afternoon with a
short trip to East Mississippi Community College for a doubleheader beginning
at 1 p.m.

The Bobcats were able to scratch a run in the top of the
ninth inning to secure the narrow victory in the opening game of the twin bill.
Trent Giambrone drove in the game winning run in the ninth inning for the
Bobcats on an RBI single.
Kevin Hall led the charge on offense for the Eagles in Game
One with three hits, while Garrett Larosa and Michael Druhan each added a pair
of hits. Brooks Balisterri, Dalton Thomas, and Paul Angel each had one base hit
apiece in the loss.
Bryant Johnston suffered the loss on the mound for the
Eagles in relief of starter Goose Yates who worked 4 2/3 innings.

The Eagles got a solid performance from its bullpen, but
were unable to climb the hill to avoid the sweep. MCC only mustered four hits
in the night cap loss and the only run that was scored came on a solo home run
in the sixth inning by Paul Angel.
Scott Votaw added a double in the loss, while Brooks Balisterri
and Ben Gann eached checked in with a base hit.
Jake Smith suffered the pitching loss on the mound for the
Eagles 2 1/3 innings and collecting two strikeouts. Kellon Hibbard and Michael
Druhan combined to allowed no runs for the rest of the game out of the bullpen
for the green and white.
