MCC Golf Ranked According to GolfStat

The Meridian Community College golf team can add another
accomplishment to its already impressive list of achievements for 2014. The
Eagles have been ranked by Golfstat.com as one of the top 20 teams in the
country according to its most recent poll that was released last week. The MCC golf
program has consistently been ranked among the best golf programs in the nation
over the past 10 years and is arguably the best among all of the junior college
programs in the state of Mississippi.
MCC is currently ranked number 16 in the nation according to
Golfstat.com among junior college teams.
The Eagles have already gotten off to a great start during
its spring season with a tournament victory in the MACJC Event #1 which was
held two weeks ago in Gulfport, MS at Great Southern Golf Course.
The Eagles shot 294 for both rounds of the tournament to win
by 7 shots over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and 22 over Co-Lin
Community College.
Meridian native Nathan Kirkland won the individual title
shooting one under for the tournament (70, 71). This was Nathan's first
collegiate win for the Eagles. Two other Eagles placed on the all-tournament
team. Ty Medling placed fourth by shooting a 3 over 145 (69, 76) and Connor
Cavin placed fifth with a 148 (77, 71). Austin Terrell recorded the second top
ten of his collegiate career by placing 9th with a twelve over 154 (78, 76).
Dallas Shepard rounded out the team by finishing 31st (78, 82).
The Eagles return to the course by making a trip to Eagle
Ridge Golf Course in Raymond, MS on February 22-23.
