MCC Basketball Suffers Road Sweep At Co-Lin

From School Reports

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles entered its MACJC South Division game with Co-Lin riding a very high wave of momentum, but things were much different for the green and white on Monday night.

The Lady Wolves defeated MCC in a hard fought 75-64 decision on the road in Wesson Monday evening.

Felishia Walters led the way in the scoring department for the Lady Eagles with 19 points, while sophomore guard Kristin Sampson finished the night with 15 points.

The Lady Eagles entered the game in first place in the South Division, but the picture for the top spot in the South has changed after the night concluded. Pearl River defeated Southwest by a final score of 60-56 to secure a one-game lead over the Lady Eagles for the top spot. The two teams will meet Thursday night at Pearl River in what could decide the top spot in the South Division.

The women's game is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. MCC dropped its overall record to 16-4 and 8-3 in division play.

The MCC men didn't fair well on Monday night by falling to Co-Lin by a final score of 75-73. The Eagles are now 5-14 overall for the season and 4-7 in division play. MCC will return to action Thursday night on the road at Pearl River beginning at 7:00 p.m.
