From School Reports

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles finished up its current three-game road trip with a very impressive 66-49 victory over Hinds Community College Monday night.

The victory for the Lady Eagles now moves the squad into a three-way toe for first place in the MACJC South Division race. Southwest Mississippi lost on the road Monday night at Mississippi Gulf Coast by a final score of 62-59 to allow MCC to get back into the hunt for the division crown. MCC, Pearl River, and Southwest are tied at the top of the standings at 7-2, while the Lady Eagles are now 15-3 overall for the season.

The Lady Eagles were led in scoring Monday by sophomore Kristin Sampson with 29 points, while Philadelphia native Victoria Stewart added 23 points in the road victory.

The MCC women will return to the Graham Gymnasium Thursday night in a huge showdown against Jones County Junior College. The Lady Eagles will be looking to avenge a loss on the road to the Lady Bobcats earlier in the season by a final of 92-64. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The MCC men saw its recent hot streak come to an end as the Eagles lost 74-73 against Hinds. The MCC men are now 4-13 overall for the season and 3-6 in league play.

The Eagles will host Jones Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
