MCC Soccer Stays Hot With Sweep

The Meridian Community College soccer program continued
its winning ways Friday by sweeping a pair of road matches against
Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
The Lady Eagles secured a 4-1, while the MCC men
collected a 4-0 shutout over the Wolves.
Former Meridian High standout MeMe Huff led the charge
for the Lady Eagles with a hat trick. Huff scored two goals in the first half
and added her third score of the match in the second half of action. Huff is
currently ranked in the top ten in goals among all players in the country
according to the NJCAA.
Sophomore Taylor Hanes scored a goal on an assist by
Aliyah Bradford to complete the scoring for MCC.
The Lady Eagles improved to 5-0 with the win and 1-0 in
MACJC South Division play. The MCC women will return to the field Tuesday with
a road match at Southwest beginning at 2 p.m.
The MCC men opened division play by taking a 4-0 shutout
over Co-Lin.
Christian Jackson started the scoring for the Eagles with
a goal in the 32nd minute and the second goal of the half came on a mistake by
the Wolves that resulted in an own goal to give MCC a 2-0 edge. Quinton Smith and Kyle Roblin each added a goal in the
second half to help pace the effort by MCC.
The Eagles are now 2-3 overall for the season and 1-0 in
divisional play.
The MCC men will return to the field Tuesday with another
key MACJC South Division match against Southwest beginning at 4 p.m.
