Sept. 28, 2009
Meridian Community College freshman Brandt Garon fired a school record fifth consecutive under par round of 70 in his first five collegiate rounds to pace the Eagles in the first round of the Jim Redgate Invitational hosted by MCC at Briarwood Country Club.
Garon’s -2 under par total puts him in a tie for 2nd individually and propelled the Eagles to the top of the leader board after two rounds.
“It is amazing to have a player start his college career with 68-70-66-70-70,” said MCC head coach Sean Covich
“SO proud of Brandt and the entire team, we’ve put ourselves in position to win at home against one of the strongest fields in all of junior college golf.”
The tournament is being played over two days, 36 hole son Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
12 teams from across the south are participating including former national championship teams, Central Alabama, Darton College and Faulkner State.
