MCC soccer player named NJCAA Player of the Week

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Meridian Community College's Leon Powell has been named the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Powell, of Excelsior High School in Kingston, Jamaica recorded four goals on 11 shots last week for Meridian Community College, earning NJCAA DI Player of the Week honors.

The 5'9" striker recorded a hat trick against in-state rival Hinds (3-2). He then recorded a goal and two assists in a tough loss to Wallace State (3-5).

Powell has been responsible for the team's last seven goals, until Saturday's game against Hinds when he assisted the first two and scored the third.
