MCC soccer splits with SW Miss.


(MERIDIAN) - The Meridian Community College women defeated Southwest Mississippi Community College in a shutout 8-0 on Tuesday night.

Lady Eagle sophomore Christina Murray led the way for MCC as she scored three goals.

Lady Eagles Kelsey Edwards, Brittany Reed, Anastasia Vogel, Rebecca Sigh and Taylor George all had one goal a piece.

MCC goalie Teri Brown had four saves.

The Lady Eagles are now 1-1 on the year.

The MCC men lost 2-1 in their contest versus SW Mississippi.

Theo Hooker scored a goal off an assist from Kyle Dew right before the half to tie the game.

SW Miss. scored the game winning goal with less than two minutes to play in the game.

MCC goalkeeper Craig Mandolini had five saves in goal for MCC in the first half while Kyle Miller had four saves in the second half for MCC.

The Eagles are now 0-2 on the season.

Both MCC soccer teams will be on the road this weekend in Georgia.
