MCC women’s soccer adds two players
Meridian Community College soccer coach, Alex George, announced that two players inked with the MCC lady Eagle soccer program Friday afternoon.
Terri Brown of England and Anastasia Vogel of Pontotoc Mississippi were the final additions to the 2009 Lady Eagle’s freshmen class.
Brown is a goalkeeper from Britain and stands at 6 feet in height.
Brown is expected to be an impact player for the Lady Eagles as she has phenomenal athletic ability along with quality technique of goal keeping.
“This has been a story book finish on this year’s recruiting class,” says Head Coach Alex George.
“Teri will play a major role in anchoring the defensive core for our program and it will be a relief to know that we have her backing up our defensive backs.”
Vogel is a utility player and can l play a variety of positions on the field, including goalkeeper.
“I watched Vogel play in a tournament earlier this year and was awestruck at how well she runs with the ball and how strong she is in 50/50 situation. She transitions so well,” says George.
“She has no problem running by defenders. It’s going to be fun watching her play.”
Vogel is the fourth player from the Pontotoc High School program to ink with MCC and a member of the Mississippi Fire Select Team based in Jackson, Mississippi.
She is also one of five of this year’s Lady Eagle’s freshmen class representing the state in the Mississippi High School All-Star Soccer Game, to be held this summer.
