MCC Softball drops two vs P'cola
Pensacola, Fla. 8-8
Meridian 0-0
The host Lady Eagles dropped a twinbill to their visitors from Florida by identical scores of 8-0.
“In game one, they got off the bus hitting,” MCC coach Robert Eakins said of Pensacola, which had five of its first six hitters record hits before the Lady Eagles could record an out.
PJC went on to score five times in that first inning.
MCC had just three hits in the opener: A single each from Mindi Turnipseed, LaToya Braxton and Natalie Parker.
In the second contest, Pensacola scored four times in the fourth inning to break open a close game and won 8-0 again — despite out-hitting Meridian just 5-4.
“We had chances to score but couldn’t come up with the clutch hit,” Eakins said. “Right now, we will keep working to get better so we can be on the other end of the score.”
Bracton, Parker, Brandi Banks and Stephanie Stevens had the hits for the Lady Eagles in the nightcap.
MCC returns to action Friday, hosting Bishop State.
