MCC out hit Northeast 8-4 but loss the game by leaving too many on. The crushing blow was 2 run homer for NE in the bottom of the 5th inning that erase a 1-0 Meridian lead and they held on for the win. Andrea Fulton lead the way for the Eagles going 2-3 at the plate. LaToya Braxton had a double in the contest. Brittany Roberts, Constance Jones, Mindi Turnipseed, Stephanie Stevens, and Natalie Parker all collected singles
Game 2
Central Alabama 4 MCC 0
Meridian again outhit their opponent 3-2. However a 4 error 4th inning proved to be the downfall for the Eagles. The 4 errors lead to 3 (all unearned) for Central as they used the strong pitching performance by Haley Hutchins to limit the Eagles to 4 baserunners. Brandi Banks collected 2 hits (single and double). Kasey Kelsay collected the othe rhit for Meridian.
Game 3
Shelton State 9 MCC 1
Shelton State turned an impressive offensive show the whole continued this in game 3 for Meridian as they out hit the Eagles 12 – 2. They hit the ball pretty good all day and continued this against us as we kind of gave out of gas down the stretch. Brittqany Roberts and Stephanie Stevens collected the Eagles only 2 hits of the game.
"Although we weren’t happy to lose any game, we saw a lot of positives in the opening day for us. Since we are so young we can used this start to work on our inconsistency and weak areas to develop into a good team. It up to them now to develop some confidence an be a solid ball club," MCC caoch Robert Eakins.
