Williamson’s 74 leads MCC golf
FAIRHOPE, Ala.. – Meridian Community College freshman golfer, Cory Williamson, used a solid 2-over par (74) first round score at the Faulkner State Elizabeth Kling Memorial golf tournament to pace the MCC golf team at Rock Creek Golf Club.
The Eagles shot a 316 in the first round as a team.
Williamson currently leads the team with a 74 (+2). Freshman, Garrett Westbrook, and sophomore, Clay Bounds, each posted rounds of 80 (+8). Freshman, Nick Hawkes, shot an 82 (+10) while sophomore, Jarrod Moulds shot an 85 (+13).
“We had a decent team score until the final five holes,” said MCC coach Sean Covich.
“As a team, we were 23-over par on the final five holes. I’ve never seen a stretch so bad in my three years here.”
MCC will resume play Tuesday morning at 9:04 a.m. CT on the 10th tee.
