MCC women claim Miss-Lou crown

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles won the Miss-Lou Conference Tournament on Wednesday night defeating Southern-Shreveport 72-58 in Shreveport, La.
By winning the Miss-Lou Tournament, the Lady Eagles (21-8) advance to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Mississippi College in Clinton next week.
In Wednesday's title game, Laquita Burroughs had 22 points and was named the Miss-Lou Tournament MVP. Two Lady Eagles were named to the All-Tournament Team, including Sharda'e Johnson, who had 15 points, and former Meridian standout Tiara Parker, who score 10 points in the win against Southern-Shreveport.
After the victory, MCC coach Hilary Allen was named the Miss-Lou Conference Coach of Year.

The Meridian Community College Eagles lost 83-68 to Southern-Shreveport in the Miss-Lou conference tournament championship game Wednesday night in Shreveport, La.
Mario Luckett had 18 points while Otis Williams had 16 points, and both were named to the Miss-Lou All-Tournament Team.
Tommy Tillman added 13 points for MCC, which ends its season 15-12 after failing to qualify for the Region 23 tournament.
