MCC Baseball Earns Another POTW Honor
From School Reports
The Meridian Community College baseball team has once again
earned another honor to begin the 2016 season and this time one of its pitchers
has received special recognition. Sophomore pitcher Hunter Mullis was named the
recipient of MACJC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by voting members
of the conference. This marks the second straight week that a member of the MCC
baseball team has been recognized by the MACJC. Sophomore shortstop Jaylon Keys
was named the MACJC Player of the Week in the opening week of the season for
the Eagles after helping his team to a sweep over Bishop State Community
College to begin the year.
Mullis tossed a complete game back
on Thursday to help MCC defeat Wallace-Selma by a final score of 6-4. Mullis
pitched seven innings with four runs allowed (two earned) with five hits, 13
strikeouts, and one walk against Wallace-Selma.
Mullis is a native Columbus, MS
and played his high school baseball at Columbus High School. MCC (5-1) will
return to action on Saturday against Jeff Davis for a scheduled doubleheader at
