MCC Soccer Sweeps Past Co-Lin
The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles turned in a
solid performance on Friday afternoon at C.D. Smith Field and all was thanks in
part to freshman Effie Morrison. The former New Hope High School product scored
four goals to lead MCC past Co-Lin by a final score of 4-1 in MACJC South
Division soccer action.
The Lady Eagles improved to 4-3-1 overall and have now
won three straight matches inside the MACJC South Division. Madison Drummond
and Kylee Burke also collected one assist apiece in the three-goal victory.
The MCC men also picked a hard fought 4-3 victory to open
the day over Co-Lin. Freshman Jordan Walton scored a pair of goals in the win,
while Daniel Birtfield and Cristian Lopez each scored one goal apiece. Lopez
and Dalton Marshall also picked one assist apiece in the home victory.
MCC will return to action on Tuesday afternoon for a pair
of matches with Northwest Mississippi Community College. The Lady Eagles will
take to the field at 2 p.m. and the MCC men will follow with their scheduled
match at 4 p.m.
