MCC's men fall in Region 23 tournament
RAYMOND — The NJCAA Region 23 Soccer Tournament got underway Thursday night on the campus of Hinds Community College.
Meridian Community College opened up the tournament against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the men's semi-final game.
Gulf Coast scored early, in the fifth minute, to take a quick 1-0 lead over the Eagles.
MCC's Valentino Fogo then tied up the game just after the ten minute mark to make it 1-1.
Gulf Coast then scored before half to take a 2-1 lead into intermission.
The game remained scoreless in the second half as Gulf Coast defeated MCC 2-1 and advanced to play in the men's championship game Friday at 7 pm.
Meanwhile, MCC's men ended their season with a 4-6-1 mark.
The Lady Eagles play tomorrow for the Region 23 Women's title against tournament host-Hinds at 5 p.m.
