No. 5 MCC prepares returns to action at Lake Caroline

The fifth ranked Meridian Community College men’s golf team returns to action Monday in the Lake Caroline Collegiate Invitational hosted by Mississippi College.

The 36-hole event will be played at Lake Caroline Golf Club in Madison.

“We are looking forward to returning to tournament golf,” said fifth year head coach Sean Covich.

“We haven’t played in a ‘tournament’ since September so I’m eager to see the guys play in a big event again.”

14 teams, including Belhaven, Millsaps, Mississippi College are scheduled to participate.

The Eagles had some recent success at Lake Caroline as they defeated Millsaps College by 30 strokes in a one day match on Oct. 8.

NJCAA defending national medalist, Brandt Garon, will lead the Eagles into this week’s event. Garon will be joined by: Easton Key, Clemens Dvorak, Jake Stirling, and Oscar Mariscal.

Tee times start 10 am Monday at Lake Caroline.
