MCC Golf grabs lead at Lake Caroline

(MADISON) – Meridian Community College sophomore golfers Clemens Dvorak and Brandt Garon shot event par rounds of 72 to lead the Eagles in round one of the Lake Caroline Collegiate Invitational on Monday.

MCC leads the 14-team event after posting a 3-over, 291 team score.

Dvorak and Garon shot 72, while freshman Easton Key posted a 1-over par 73.

Sophomore Oscar Mariscal shot 2-over 74 and freshman Jake Stilring shot a 4-over 76.

“Conditions were extremely windy today,” said MCC head coach Sean Covich.

“This is a links style course and today it played just like that with the wind, we battled back after a rocky front nine to shoot 5-under on the back nine and that stretch of holes is why were leading.”

MCC leads school such as the University of New Orleans, University of Texas-Tyler, Mississippi College and others going into tomorrow’s final round, scheduled for a 9 am shotgun start.
