MADISON, Miss. – For the second time this fall, the Meridian Community College golf team came away with an impressive victory.
Being the only junior college in the field didn’t stop MCC from walking away with several honors at the Belhaven College Fall Invitational held at Lake Caroline Golf Course in Madison, MS. It was a clean sweep for the Eagles as MCC claimed the overall team championship, individual medalist and medalist runner-up honors.
“I am really proud of the team,” said 1st year MCC head golf coach, Sean Covich.
“It wasn’t pretty- but we found a way to get it done, and that’s what we have to do- keep finding a way to win even when we’re not playing our best.”
MCC’s two day total of 605 (302, 303) enabled the Eagles to capture the Belhaven Invitational by four strokes over host-Belhaven College, 609 (302, 307). First round team leader, Union University, out of Jackson, TN claimed third in the team standings with a 616 (301, 315)
