MCC Soccer Star Named MACJC POTW
From School Reports
Meridian Community College freshman forward Effie Morrison
was named the recipient of the MACJC Player of the Week on Tuesday morning as
voted on by representatives of each conference school. Morrison led the MCC
soccer team to a pair of key MACJC South Division victories last week to help
her squad keep pace in the tough divisional race. Morrison had a superb pair of
games by scoring six goals in 10 shots to help MCC defeat Mississippi Gulf
Coast and Co-Lin.
Morrison currently has 10 total goals for the season which
ranks 11th in the country among all junior college players.
Morrison, the former New Hope star, will now be nominated for NJCAA National
Player of the Week which will be announced later this week. The Lady Eagles are
currently 4-3-1 overall and 3-2 in conference action for the 2015 season. MCC
will return to action today by hosting Northwest Mississippi Community College
in non-conference action at 2 p.m.
