MCC Track Wins Home Meet Behind 6 Victories

MS - MCC posted six victories Saturday to win the MCC Relay Invitational over
Hinds CC and Coahoma CC. MCC won the meet with 40 points beating out Hinds (34
points) and Coahoma (3 points).
"This was a great day for us from a performance standpoint," said Head Coach Chip Gayden. "We have had two meets in a row were our guys have improved and really pushed themselves and to win at home is a great feeling for them."
MCC started the day with a win in the 4x100 relay. MCC won with a time of 40.00 just shy of their season best 39.86.
It would continue with the sprints as MCC went one, two, three in the 100 meters with Kendrick Smith winning in a time of 10.32. Chris Lewis and Cravorkian Carson finished second and third with time of 10.45 and 10.68.
In the 400 meters, MCC's Marquis Adams won in a time of 48.26. Eric Durham finished fifth in a time of 48.98.
Bryson Penton was victorious in the 400 hurdles edging out Lane Ross to win with a time of 57.08
In the 800 meters, Josh Austin posted his second victory in as many weeks winning the event in 1:57.54.
In the jumps, MCC placed second in the high jump with Devontre Young clearing 6-10. In the long jump, K'lan Harris placed first with a jump of 23'11.
In the final event the 4x400 relay, MCC posted a second place finish behind Hinds with a time of 3:15.15.
MCC will now turn their attention to next weekend as the team will split up between the LSU Alumni Gold and Choctaw Open hosted by Mississippi College.
