MCC Golf Captures Jim Redgate Championship

The Meridian Community College golf team won its second tournament of the spring season on Tuesday by winning the annual Jim Redgate Invitational.
The Meridian Community College golf team won its second tournament of the spring season on Tuesday by winning the annual Jim Redgate Invitational.
The MCC Eagle golf team shot 2
under par 286 in the second and final day of the Jim Redgate Invitational held
at Briarwood Country Club to win by 6 strokes. The Eagles shot a team total of
581 for the two day tournament. Mississippi Gulfcoast CC placed second with a
total of 587 and Co-Lin shot 593.
The Eagles were led by freshman
Grant Renegar who shot 3 under for the tournament (72, 69), finishing second
overall individual.
Sophomore Connor Cavin
continued his strong play by finishing 7th overall ( 74, 72) and Clayton Gray
finished 8th by shooting 75, 73. Austin Terrell shot 74, 75 to finish t-12th
and Luther Thompson shot 79, 72 to finish 17th.
Playing as individuals, Ty Medling finished t-12th by shooting 78, 71, Will
Zizmann shot 77, 76, Colby Evans shot 81, 79, Beau McMullen shot 85, 76
and Aaron Ricks shot 85, 86.
The Eagles play next at the
MACJC State Championship on April 18-19 to be held at Lion Hills
Golf Course in Columbus, MS. The top 5 teams from that tournament will play the
next weekend in the Region 23 Tournament to be held at Laurel Country Club. The
winner of the regional advances to the national championship tournament.
