MCC Baseball Falls To ICC
From School Reports
The Meridian Community College baseball team returned to
Scaggs Field Tuesday afternoon to complete a doubleheader against Itawamba
Community College that was postponed back on Saturday due to rain, and the
result was much different. MCC defeated ICC back on Saturday by a final of 6-4,
but the Indians would use a solid pitching outing from Nick Burns to shutout
MCC by a final of 6-0.
Burns (1-1) pitched a complete game for the Indians and
allowed only one hit which came on a single by Goose Yates of Meridian in the
final inning. Josh Rich (3-2) suffered the pitching loss on the mound for the
Eagles by working 4 1/3 innings and allowing five runs.
Itawamba finished the game with seven total hits and Russ
Johnson led the way with a pair of hits, to go along with a solo homer.
MCC dropped to 16-9 overall and 4-4 in MACJC play, while ICC
improved to 8-8 overall and 2-6 in league play. MCC will return to action
Wednesday afternoon for a MACJC doubleheader as Northeast Mississippi
Community College will come to Scaggs Field. The twin bill is scheduled for a 3
p.m. first pitch.
