Four MCC Baseball Stars Earn All-Region Selections

The Meridian Community College Eagles are set to open
play in the 2014 Region 23 Division I Tournament Friday afternoon in New
Orleans, but four members of the team were honored in a special ceremony
Thursday evening.
Dalton Thomas, Ben Gann, Kevin Hall, and Goose Yates were
named members of the 2014 All-Region 23 Team at a banquet held Thursday night
hosted by Delgado Community College.
Thomas led the Eagles in batting average during the
regular season at .349 and was tied on the team in the home run department with
seven. Thomas has primarily played in left field this season for the Eagles and
drew a few starts at first base.
Gann also had a productive season for the Eagles by
smashing seven home runs and finishing the regular season with a .291 batting
average. Gann led the team in RBI's with 43 and started most of his games defensively
at second base.
Hall started most of his games at catcher for the Eagles
this season and has been one of the hottest hitters as of late. Hall is
currently batting .329 and leads the team in runs scored with 40.
Yates was represented on the All-Region Team after
enjoying a great deal of success on the mound in 2014. Yates complied a 2.12
ERA and finished with 5-3 record in just over 52 innings worked.
MCC is scheduled to open play in the Region 23 Tournament
Friday afternoon at noon against Baton Rouge and will play Delgado Friday night
at 7 p.m.
