MCC Golf Captures 2014 MACJC State Championship

The Meridian Community College golf team completed one of
the more amazing comebacks Wednesday afternoon to win the 2014 MACJC State
Championship at the Pine Burr Golf Course in Wiggins, MS that was hosted by
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
The Eagles erased a 10-stroke deficit in the final round of
the tournament to win the championship by one stroke over Mississippi Gulf
Coast. The Eagles shot a final round team score of 291 and finished the two-day
event with a score of 606.
Nathan Kirkland earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team
with a final round score of 72 which was good enough to give him a fourth place
finish in the field. Connor Cavin had the lowest score in the second round for
the Eagles with a 71 which placed him in a tie for 16th place at the
end of the event.
Ty Medling finished with a two-day total of 153 (79-74) for
a tie in 12th position, while Dallas Shepard ended the tournament
with score of 154 (80-74). Austin Terrell ended Wednesday with a two-day total
of 157 (79-78).
