MCC Softball Sweeps Past BRCC

The Meridian Community College softball team traveled to
Baton Rouge Thursday to begin a key Region 23 series looking to move a step
closer to a postseason berth.
The Lady Eagles came away with a doubleheader sweep (9-5,
12-2) over the Lady Bears to draw just win away from earning a spot in the
District playoffs.
The Lady Eagles collected 16 hits in the opening game and
Lyndsey Cannon picked up the pitching win on the mound. Cannon gave up six hits
and allowed four walks in the Game One performance.
The Lady Eagles secured the sweep in Game Two by taking
the run rule victory in six innings. MCC finished Game Two with 14 hits and
Cannon earned yet another victory on the mound for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles will host BRCC at Tommy McDonald Field
this Wednesday (April 23) in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. MCC will need
just one victory to clinch the Division I Region 23 title and earn a spot in
the District playoffs next month.
