MCC splits at Jones County

ELLISVILLE- The Meridian Community College women’s basketball team continued its winning ways behind a pair of double-doubles Monday, defeating host Jones County Junior College 87-78.

Freshman Chasity Kearney led the 21-4 Eagles with 29 points and 15 rebounds, while fellow freshman Arnissa Galloway added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Former Northeast Lauderdale star Norianna Haynes, another freshman, contributed 24 points for MCC, which puts its 6-0 Miss-Lou Conference mark on the line Wednesday at Shreveport.

In the men’s game, the host Bobcats outscored Meridian 113-110. The Eagles fell to 14-10 heading into Wednesday’s conference game.
