Baseball sweeps Faulkner State
Meridian Community College head baseball coach Chris Curry had found memories of playing at Scaggs Field when he was a catcher for the Eagles in the mid-90’s. Now, thanks to the Eagles sweep of Faulkner State in his home-opener as the head coach for MCC, Coach Curry continues to look upon Scaggs Field as “home sweet home.”
MCC improved to 4-1 on the season with two wins over the visiting Sun Chiefs on Sunday, a double header originally slated to be played Saturday but was forced to “Super Bowl” Sunday because of weather.
The Eagles won game one by a score of 5-4.
Former Meridian High standout, Kenny Roberts and freshman Nolan Thomas each homered for the Eagles in game one.
Game two was a little easier for the Eagles as they outscored the Sun Chiefs by six runs, winning 8-2.
Thomas homered in game two also for MCC.
The Eagles (4-1) return to action tomorrow when Shelton State Community College travels to Scaggs Field for a 2 p.m. ballgame.
