Meridian slides past Delgado

MERIDIAN — The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles improved to 19-4 on the season and 5-0 in conference play with a low scoring 58-53 victory against host Delgado Community College in New Orleans Wednesday night.

Freshman Chasity Kearney scored 21 points and pulled 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Eagles.

"Chasity Kearney played outstanding scoring a double-double," said Meridian head women's basketball coach Hilary Allen. "This was a big conference road win for us".

In the men's game, the Eagles fell to 13-9 with a 88-85 loss to Delgado.

Both teams return to action Saturday when MCC plays Baton Rouge Community College in Clinton, MS for a neutral site meeting. The Miss-Lou conference games will take place on the campus of Mississippi College in the A.E. Wood Coliseum. The women play at 5 p.m. while the men play at 7 p.m..


Schedule Change: Baseball

Meridian Community College baseball home opener against Faulkner State, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been changed. The Eagles will now play a doubleheader versus Faulkner State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
