MCC basketball travels to Selma


The Meridian Community College basketball teams look to continue their winning streaks Wednesday night when the Eagles and Lady Eagles travel to Selma, AL to face Wallace-Selma Community College.

The Lady Eagles are coming of an 81-74 victory Monday night over in-state opponent, Northeast Mississippi Community College.

MCC’s women, led by coach Hilary Allen, are 7-3 on the season and have put together a three game winning streak heading into their re-match with Wallace-Selma.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Patriots by 21 points back on Nov. 3 in the season opener, 90-69.

Meanwhile the Eagles, under first year head coach Jeff Walker, are enjoying quite a turnaround season from last year.

MCC’s men are 8-1 on the season and have won five consecutive games, including wins over in-state foes- Jones County Junior College and Northeast Mississippi Community College.

The Eagles look to make it six straight when the play their re-match game with the Patriots, MCC defeated Wallace-Selma 88-68 in their season opener, also played on Nov. 3.

Tip off from Selma is slated for 5:30 pm for the women and 7:30 pm for the men.

MCC will then return home for a double-header Saturday when they host Mid-South Community College (2 pm – women, 4 pm – men).
