MCC's Clark ink's with Belhaven
Meridian Community College sophomore tennis player, Elliott Clark (seated-middle), signs his National Letter of Intent to play for Belhaven College next season. Clark, a former West Lauderdale star, helped lead MCC to the 2008 NJCAA National Tournament by winning the Region 23/MACJC State Championships. Clark, is joined by his parents, Bobby and Cherry Clark (sitting), and his college tennis coach, Wanda McPhail and his teaching tennis pro, Rod Hartzog. While at MCC Elliott had a 13-4 doubles record and a 12-5 singles record. He won the Region 23/MACJC Championship at no. 4 singles last season and lost in the finals with partner, Dawson Dyess, at no. 2 doubles to a team they had previously beaten twice during regular season. Coach Patton of Belhaven says this of Elliott, “Elliott has had great success at a top-ranked community college. Elliott will come in playing near the top three. Elliott is 6’7” and has great reach, a great slice serve and good hands. I look forward to having him for fall 2009.”
