MCC sweeps Delgado on the road

The Lady Eagles built a double-digit lead early and coasted to their 18th victory of the season.

MCC, which is now 18-6, led 42-32 at halftime and outscored the homestanding Lady Dolphins 29-22 in the second half.

Tiara Parker and LaQuita Burrough scored 13 points apiece for MCC, while Brittany Bohannon scored 12. Parker is a former Meridian High School standout, while Bohannon prepped at Kemper County.

Jamie Ellen led Delgado with 13 points.

MCC's ladies return home Saturday to host Georgia Perimeter at 2 p.m.

The Eagles exploded in the second half to take a come-from-behind win against Delgado Thursday night.

MCC was down 44-33 at halftime, but outscored the Dolphins 59-40 over the final 20 minutes to get the victory and improve to 14-9 on the year.

Mario Luckett pumped in a game-high 29 points to pace MCC, while ex-Northeast Lauderdale standout Tommy Tillman scored 20. Otis Williams (17 points) and Travis Thompson (16 points) were also in double figures.

Delgado got 17 points from Jarred LaFont.

MCC's men are off until Monday, when they visit Jones County.
