MCC women defeat Alabama-Southern
Lady Eagles 70
Alabama Southern 62
(MERIDIAN)- Meridian Community College Lady Eagles were clinging to a one point lead with less than 90 seconds to play when freshman guard, Tiara Logan, put the game away with a long-range three pointer and secured MCC’s 70-62 victory over visiting Alabama Southern Community College Tuesday night.
The win was the second in two nights for the home standing Lady Eagles.
Logan, a former Philadelphia High player, had seven points but her clutch free-throw shooting and three pointer sealed the victory for MCC down the stretch. MCC had seen their 34-29 lead at halftime dwindle down with just over a minute to play and then they went on a 9-0 run to end the game.
Tiara Parker of MCC led the Lady Eagles with 25 points, while Natonya McWilliams, from Philadelphia, added 10 points.
Jerrika Williams and Logan each pulled down 12 rebounds.
Latasha Greer led Alabama Southern with 15 points.
Meridian improved to 5-2 with the win while Alabama Southern dropped to 1-3.
The Lady Eagles will be in action again on Monday when they travel to Bishop State.
Meanwhile, action continues at the Graham Gymnasium tonight when the MCC men host Genesis One Christian School at 7 p.m.
