MCC Softball Falls To ECCC

DECATUR, MS- The Meridian Community College softball team
traveled to East Central Community College Tuesday night for a MACJC
doubleheader with the Lady Warriors and the road trip wasn't kind for the Lady
Eagles.
East Central earned the home sweep (0-8, 2-3) over MCC to
pick up a pair of key conference wins over the green and white. MCC dropped its
overall record to 4-12 and 1-3 in MACJC play with the pair of losses. MCC will
return to action Friday afternoon for another key MACJC doubleheader by hosting
Pearl River Community College, The doubleheader is slated for a 2 p.m. first
pitch at Tommy McDonald Field in Highland Park.
MCC dropped its opening game to the Lady Warriors by a
final score of 8-0. The Lady Eagles could only manage two hits in Game One as
Victoria Lewis and Keoceania Yarbrough accounted for the only offense for the
Lady Eagles.
Lyndsey Cannon (1-3) took the pitching loss on the mound
in Game One for the Lady Eagles.
MCC did regroup in Game Two with a solid outing, but fell
short by a final score of 3-2. Cheyenne Barefoot led the way at the plate in
Game Two by going 2-for-4. Josie Anderson, Zoie LaVergne, Paige Gibson, and
Victoria Lewis also added hits in the loss.
Angel Thornton (0-4) suffered the loss on the mound in
Game Two for the Lady Eagles.
