MCC Posts Strong Showing at LSU
Baton
Rouge, LA- MCC returned to the track Friday afternoon at the LSU Twilight and
saw three victories in the final regular season meet.
"This was a great tuneup
for us leading in to the National Championships," said Head Coach Chip
Gayden. "We came in and executed very well and had great focus."
MCC's short sprinters once
again posted a strong showing with 3 finalists in the 60 meters.
Freshmen, Chris Lewis, Kendrick
Smith and Cravorkian Carson finished one, two, five in the event. Lewis
and Smith both posted personals bests with times of 6.68 and 6.71. Those marks
rank them second and third in the NJCAA.
In the 400 meters Marquis Adams
turned in a second place finish with a time of 51.77.
In the 600 meters, freshman
Josh Austin finished first posting a NJCAA qualifying time of 1:23.09.
In the field events MCC saw
three top two finishes.
Devontre Young posted a
personal best of 6-8.75 and second place finish in the high jump. His mark now
ranks him 12th in NJCAA.
In the long jump, the freshman
duo of Lakendric Tuck and Josh Wilson turned in a 1-2 finish. Tuck won with a
jump of 22-09.
MCC will now turn its focus to
the NJCAA National Championships in Albuquerque, NM March
5-7.
