MCC Baseball Sweeps Road Set At Wallace-Selma

Meridian Community College Sports Information
The Meridian Community College Eagles continued its
winning ways Tuesday afternoon by sweeping a road doubleheader (8-1, 7-4) at
Wallace-Selma Community to push its winning streak to three games.
The Eagles are now 12-12 overall for the 2014 season with
the doubleheader sweep of the Patriots.
MCC will return to action Wednesday afternoon at Scaggs
Field to face Wallace-Hanceville in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The
games will be broadcasted locally on radio by simply to tuning to 106.9 FM.

Former Clarkdale star Jonathan Porter had his best outing
on the mound this season for the Eagles in the Game One victory.
Porter picked up the win on the mound by pitching five
innings and allowing only one hit, to go along with three strikeouts.
Scott Votaw led the way at the plate with a pair of hits
and two RBI's, while former West Lauderdale standout Grant Hill collected two
hits and drove in a pair of runs in the win.
Garrett Larosa also added a triple and a pair of RBI's in
the victory.

The Eagles completed the sweep in Game Two of the
Patriots thanks to a great day at the plate by Ben Gann and Brooks Balisterri.
Gann smashed a two-run homer in the game, while
Balisterri added three base hits from the lead-off spot for the Eagles.
Baylor Obert added a pair of base hits and Scott Votaw
added two hits and one RBI.
Jake Smith earned the pitching win on the mound for the
Eagles by working four innings.
