MCC Baseball Splits Amazing DH With EMCC

From School Reports

The Meridian Community College Eagles entered play Saturday needing something positive to happen in the win column after losing five straight games. The Eagles were hoping to completely reverse its fortunes as rival East Mississippi Community College paid a visit to Scaggs Field for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The news got worse for the green and white as EMCC won Game One of the twin bill 11-5, but Game Two would go down as one of the most unbelievable comebacks in school history for the Eagles.

MCC battled back from a 9-0 first-inning deficit to secure a 15-12 victory in Game Two to halt its losing streak at six games. MCC moved its overall record to 9-11 with the doubleheader split, while East Mississippi is now 13-5 for the 2014 season.

MCC will return to action Thursday to close out its current five-game home stand against Southeast Iowa for a single-game at 6 p.m. The Eagles will finish the two-game set with Southeast Iowa Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. East Mississippi will return to the diamond Wednesday as it will open MACJC North Division play against Holmes Community College in a doubleheader at home beginning at 4 p.m.
