MCC Baseball Continues Hot Streak With Sweep Over Wallace-Hanceville

The Meridian Community College Eagles are starting to peak
at the right time of the season after getting off to a very slow start to the
2014 season. The Eagles extended its winning streak to five games with a
doubleheader sweep (9-3, 10-7) of Wallace-Hanceville Community College
Wednesday afternoon at Scaggs Field.
The Eagles moved its record to 14-12 overall with the sweep,
while the Lions dropped to 7-20 overall for the year. Meridian will now prepare
for a big weekend at Scaggs Field as Baton Rouge Community College will be in
town to begin a three-game series. The Miss-Lou Conference series will begin
Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and will conclude with the third game of
the set Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Eagles had five players with multi-hits in the six-run
victory in Game One of the doubleheader. Michael Druhan had the biggest day at
the plate in the opening game of the twin bill with a game-high three hits and
two RBI’s. Brooks Balisterri, Ben Gann, Scott Votaw, and Kevin Hall each had
two hits in the opening victory of the day for MCC.
Mac Siebert added a two-run double and former West
Lauderdale star Grant Hill added an RBI base hit. MCC finished Game One with 14
total hits and Wallace-Hanceville had six hits.
Chandler Blakeney was credited with the pitching win by
working two innings out of the bullpen for Meridian.

The Eagles completed the sweep in Game Two over the Lions
with plenty of contributions throughout the entire lineup. MCC finished Game
Two with 13 total hits and Wallace-Hanceville was not far behind with 10 hits.
Kevin Hall led the offense in Game Two with three hits and three
RBI’s, while Mac Siebert also had three hits and three RBI’s in the victory.
Ben Gann and Brooks Balisterri each had two hits, while Garrett Larosa added an
RBI double in the three-run win.
Catcher Jared Savell also had a great day at the plate with
a two-run single for the green and white.
Michael Druhan picked up the pitching win and Baylor Obert
was credited with the save in Game Two.
