MCC Soccer Records Record Breaking Sweep
From School Reports
Freshman MeMe Huff entered the weekend needing five goals
to break the single season goals record at Meridian Community College and most
would think that reaching the record in one game would be nearly impossible,
but the possible occurred at C.D. Smith Field Saturday afternoon. Huff scored
five goals to secure the record and lead MCC to an 8-1 victory over Southwest
Mississippi Community College.
Huff scored the record breaking goal in the 79th minute
of the match to break the school record which was set by Holly Head in 2007.
Huff scored two goals in the first half and scored the remainder of her goals
in the second half, to go along with one assist in the match.
Taylor Hanes, Merrick Watkins, and Haley Hegwood each had
one goal apiece in the victory for the Lady Eagles. Freshman Kayla Phillips
also added an assist for MCC.
MCC (11-2, 5-2) will return to action Wednesday evening
for another key MACJC match with Mississippi Gulf Coast on the road beginning
at 5:30 p.m. MCC will then travel to Jones next Saturday to battle the 10th
ranked Lady Bobcats at 2 p.m. MCC will look avenge a 1-0 loss earlier this
season at the hands of JCJC.
The MCC men completed the sweep of Southwest with 4-0
shutout victory.
Tyler Germany was a force for the Eagles in the victory
by scoring four goals in the win for the Eagles.
The MCC men will hit the road as well Wednesday at 7:30
p.m. against Mississippi Gulf Coast and then travel to Ellisville next Saturday
to tangle with Jones at 4:30 p.m.
