MCC Softball Sweeps LBW

The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles continued its great play Saturday by securing a sweep (11-5, 4-3) over Lurleen B. Wallace at Tommy McDonald Field. MCC improved to 10-13 overall with the sweep of LBW. MCC will return to action Sunday on the road at Shelton State beginning at 1p.m.

The Lady Eagles scored seven runs in the second inning and sent 11 hitters to the plate to cruise to the victory in the opening game. Devin Batson led the way for MCC with three hits, including a double and a triple. Coleigh Carnegie ended the game with three singles and a double, while Shumond Hughes added a pair of singles.
Kelsey Wilson picked up the pitching win on the mound for the Lady Eagles in Game One.

MCC secured the sweep by scoring four early runs and hang on for the one-run victory. The Lady Eagles scored in the first four innings and had to hold off Lurleen B. Wallace in the final inning to earn the sweep.
Batson led the way in the second game with a pair of base hits, while Mallory Lowe earned the pitching win for the Lady Eagles.
