MCC Softball Splits With Hinds

The Meridian Community College softball team traveled to Hinds Community College on Saturday afternoon and came away with a doubleheader split (3-7, 4-1) against HCC. The Lady Eagles moved its overall record to 8-13 with the split against Hinds. MCC will return to action March 30 on the road at Shelton State beginning at 1 p.m.

The Lady Eagles dropped in the opening game in the doubleheader despite a great day at the plate from sophomore Brooke Dew. The former Quitman standout ended the game with three hits for MCC, while Miranda Agee added a pair of hits in the loss.
Ashley Wilson suffered the pitching loss in the first game of the doubleheader for the Lady Eagles.

MCC battled back in the top of the seventh inning from a 1-0 deficit to score four runs to salvage the split over Hinds. Shumond Hughes and Ashley Downing each had a pair of hits in the victory, while Ashley Edwards had a single and a double in the victory. Mallory Lowe took the pitching win on the mound in the second game for the Lady Eagles.
