MCC Golf Captures Spring Fling Title

The Meridian Community College golf team captured its second tournament championship of the spring season on Saturday by scoring a final round team score of 278 (-22) to win the 11th Annual Ron Marshall Spring Fling Tournament in Scottsboro, AL. The Eagles defeated Dartion College by nine strokes to claim the tournament championship.
The Eagles also had three players finish in the top three and two of those players had to settle the tournament title on a playoff hole. Dylan Brown defeated Jake Sterling on a playoff hole to win the individual title for the Eagles by firing a final round score of 68. T.J. Morgan ended the tournament by firing a 70. Former Lamar standout Easton Key scored a final round 71, while Gafford White scored an 86.
The Eagles are currently ranked number one in the recent NJCAA Division I golf poll and have now won seven tournaments so far in the fall and spring seasons. MCC will return to action March 26-27 by hosting the Lou Hart Invitatioinal at Northwood Country Club.
