MCC Golf Captures Lou Hart Invitational

The Meridian Community College golf team continued his superb play on the course by capturing its third tournament championship of the spring season Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles finished with a team score of 872 to hold off Darton College by four strokes to win the 4th Annual Lou Hart Invitational at Northwood Country Club. This marks the third tournament championship of the spring and six combined titles for the 2011-2012 season for the MCC golf team.

“I am extremely proud of the way we fought today to win this championship,” said MCC head golf coach Clinton Hales. “We didn’t play our best golf early in the day, but we battled to hold on for the win. This was a great field of teams and we are very honored to take home this championship today.”

Joe Sakulpolphaisan of Darton College took home the individual championship by firing a final round score of 70 and finished with a total score of 211 to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Paul McClure of Faulkner State finished four strokes back in second place with a 211 to place a spot on the All-Tournament Team. T.J. Morgan of MCC also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team by finishing in third place after firing a final round score of 72.

Alex Grannon and Dylan Brown of MCC rounded out the All-Tournament Team by scoring tournament totals of 217.

MCC will return to action April 2-3 at the Arkansas State Red Wolf Classic in Jonesboro, AR at Ridgepointe Country Club.
