MCC Golf Sweeps Wallace State, Garon Wins Third Collegiate Title
(Cullman, AL) - Meridian Community College sophomore, Brandt Garon, successfully defended his title at the Wallace State Fall Invitational in Cullman, AL on Tuesday.
The defending NJCAA national champion posted rounds of 67-70-71 for an 8-under total to win the season-opening event. Garon defeated Wallace State's Dean Rikard on the second playoff hole to earn his third career win.
The Eagles also came away victorious with a one stroke victory over Central Alabama. MCC finished with a 14-under 850 total to win the event. CACC had 851, while host-Wallace State had 853. Seven teams participated in the event.
In addition to Garon's under par performance, Meridian freshman Easton Key shot 6-under for the tournament with rounds of 73-65-72. Garon and Key were both named to the All Tournament team.
Sophomore Clemens Dvorak and freshman Jake Stirling both finished at Even par for the event. Dvorak shot 74-69-73, while Stirling posted rounds of 72-70-74.
Sophomore Oscar Mariscal finished at 12-over with rounds of 78-74-76.
MCC will now prepare for the Jim Redgate Invitational on September 27-28 at Briarwood Country Club.
