MCC golf leads at Hinds

(RAYMOND) - Former Lamar standout, Clay Bounds, led the Meridian Community College golf team on day one of the Hinds Invitational at Eagle Ridge GC in Raymond with an opening round of 72, even-par.

Bounds' even-par round leads the medalist race by one stroke over Brett Holmes of Gulf Coast who shot a 1-over par, 73.

MCC is in first place after day one with a team score of 304, two shots ahead of Gulf Coast who fired a 306.

For MCC- Joe Konieczny shot 3-over par, 75; Jarrod Lemaster shot 6-over par, 78; Jarrod Moulds shot 7-over par, 79; and Bryant Self closed out MCC's team scoring with an 87.

Final round of the Hinds Invitational begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
