MCC keeps winning streaks alive with sweep of Pearl River
The Meridian Community College basketball teams swept South Division foe Pearl River Community College on Thursday night.
The Lady Eagles won their eighth straight divisional game with a 72-71 last second victory over PRCC to improve to 10-2 in the South Division. MCC’s Dana Parker nailed a 3-point basket with no time remaining to give Meridian its only lead of the game as time expired. The Lady Eagles are now 20-3 overall.
Parker and NaDosha Strickland led MCC with 16 points, while Tiara Parker and Jennifer Wair each had 11 points for the Lady Eagles.
Pearl River fell to 16-7 (7-5).
The Eagles have a streak of their own after defeating Pearl River 82-77 Thursday. MCC has now won five straight ballgames and seven of their last eight to push them all the way to second place in the MACJC South Division.
Freshman Patrick McCurtis led the Eagles with 21 points; Regis Huddleston scored 19 while Mario Luckett added 17 points.
MCC is now 15-8 (9-3), while Pearl River fell to 14-9 (7-5).
MCC will remain on the road Monday when they travel to Southwest Mississippi before returning home to host Mississippi Gulf Coast for “Sophomore Night” in the Graham Gymnasium on February 21.
