MCC softball opens up play today
MCC opens its 2008 softball season and head coach Robert Eakins’ 19th coaching campaign (15 as head coach, 4 as assistant coach) with the Lady Eagles today as MCC travels to Milton, FL to face Pensacola Junior College.
The Lady Eagles usher in its 16-game 2008 home schedule February 19 when they host Bishop State Community College at Tommy McDonald Field.
MCC returns 4 starters from the 2008 team that finished with a 21-21 record.
DeMiracle Biggs, Whitney Drachenburg, Shanese Hunter, and Gabrielle Morgan highlight the returning starters for MCC.
Biggs is currently helping the Lady Eagle Basketball team stay atop the MCJAC South Division standings and will return to the softball team after the 2008 postseason tournaments.
Drachenburg will be the top returning hitter for MCC as she batted for a .326 average last season with 17 RBI and 31 hits in 30 games played.
Morgan, from Quitman High School, was named second team All State last year for MCC after going 10-6 on the mound with a 2.44 ERA.
